The most anticipated event of the fourth day of Paris Fashion Week was the Dior show for the spring-summer 2014 season. In his third collection for the legendary Maison, Raf Simons once again praises the flower woman, whom he confessed to love at the very beginning of his work with Dior.
This collection is one of the brightest, most intense and versatile of all presented at this year's Fashion Weeks. Raf Simons has traditionally relied on the classic silhouettes celebrated by the founder of the House, but has adapted them to modernity and added his own characteristic features. Feminine cocktail dresses with tulip skirts, elegant pant suits, men's satin jackets and, of course, classic 50s-style dresses with a narrow bodice and wide ankle-length skirt - the Dior collection presented impeccably executed variations on timeless themes.
After the Dior show, there was not the slightest doubt about which fashion trends will dominate the next season - translucent fabrics, metallic effect and floral print have become the undisputed favorites of not only Simons, but also dozens of other designers. The Dior collection has become the quintessence of these trends, presenting them both in the usual and in a new way.
Simons has never repeated himself, making each model unique. He played boldly with fabrics, silhouettes and colors. Brocade, silk, knitwear and neoprene have acquired the most unusual shapes and properties.
