The editors know that I am a fan of non-trivial sports. For example, in 2017, in addition to traditional snowboarding, I discovered yachting and flying. All these activities, of course, are more interesting than regular workouts in the gym, but they have one significant drawback - the time spent on the road, because they are all located in the Moscow region at best. That is why, having learned that a new sports club Soul Rabel had opened near our office, the star direction of which is squash, I, without thinking twice, went to a test training.
So, squash is a fairly new sport for Russia, and before that it was known to me only from those fragments of Hollywood films in which Wall Street tycoons relieve tension after another multimillion-dollar deal with a party of squash at lunch. Despite the fact that this is a doubles game, the first lesson is best done one-on-one with a coach. To my surprise, I didn't have any problems with hitting the ball at the first training session, although both the ball and the racket are much smaller than, for example, in tennis or even badminton. Nevertheless, a good coach is vital in the beginning - not just to explain the rules of the game, but also to develop and how to deliver the blow.
Squash training is primarily about powerful cardio. During the game, you are constantly in motion, using all the major muscle groups (at least the next day, everything hurt me). Probably, this explains the ratio of players: there are about three times more men in squash than women - they are simply more enduring. But do not forget about sports passion, because of which training is perceived much easier, although in its effectiveness it is in no way inferior to functional training.

Cycling, Velobeat Novoslobodskaya (street Fadeeva, 4a)
I have been engaged in cycling for several months already, therefore, going to Velobeat, I approximately understood what was waiting for me there. Separately, I would like to note the spacious and bright premises of the new studio on Novoslobodskaya, which has everything you need: from a shower to a small cafe with fruit smoothies. For me personally, cycle is the ideal type of load when you need to get in shape as soon as possible.
The lesson lasts only 45 minutes, but during this time you can do great work on the body. Plus, there is no need to take sneakers for cycling (special boots with bindings are given out in the studio), and shorts and a top fit even in a small bag. All exercises are performed on a stationary bike, but this is not at all like a regular bike ride, as many mistakenly believe. During the work on the simulator, various muscle groups are involved, including the press and arms (push-ups from the steering wheel and exercises with dumbbells). After cycling, you feel a surge of strength and energy. In my opinion, this is largely the merit of the instructors: under their careful guidance, the lesson flies in one breath, and after the "arrival" I am full of energy.
It is also a very effective cardio workout that can help you lose weight in record time. For 4 sessions, I threw off 1.5 kilograms, while absolutely not limiting myself in nutrition. However, for beginners it is better to adequately assess their strength and evenly distribute the load: two classes a week with an interval of two or three days will be quite enough for a start. I will also add that you need to listen carefully to the instructors and not neglect their advice. The trainers of the studio very clearly explain how to perform the exercises, and are always ready to help in any incomprehensible situation.

Of the workouts, I usually prefer the most effective functional training in terms of weight loss, but due to recent back problems, I had to temporarily rethink my sports regimen. On the recommendation of my colleagues, I signed up for a trial lesson at the MIND & BODY yoga and fitness center on Prospekt Mira. The qualifications of trainers and the effectiveness of training in the studio have long been legendary, in particular, about the author's program of the Dutchman Hert Van Lewen "Critical alignment".
The essence of the technique is the systematic relaxation of the back muscles and the removal of the load from the musculoskeletal system. That is why this workout is suitable both for people with pre-existing back problems and for those who spend a lot of time in front of a computer screen and want to avoid possible complications in the future. All exercises are performed using special equipment under the close supervision of a trainer who comments on each movement. At first, some elements may seem strange and inconvenient to repeat. Nevertheless, this is exactly how the body is reconfigured, because the task of critical alignment is to re-teach the body to move in a physiologically correct way for it.
The result is felt after the first workout: despite the fact that during the session you may feel pain and discomfort in the back, the next morning you will certainly notice a significant improvement.

For a long time, I could describe my relationship with sports as "love-hate" - that was exactly until my fateful acquaintance with the Five Concept Fitness studio at Arma. Never before have I gone to training with such pleasure. I like absolutely everything in this place: the perfect interior, friendly administrators, the pass system (no need to carry a card with you, the QR code comes directly to the post office), the futuristic space of the dressing room and, which is especially important for me, the sterile cleanliness of not only the premises, but also all sports equipment.
The club has a very convenient payment system: you can choose a package from 1 to 50 workouts (of course, the more classes, the lower the cost). Among group classes, I have two favorites: The Trip and Body Pump. The first is a cycle, which I love for its speed (only 45 minutes), efficiency (you can burn up to 600 calories), and also for the huge Immersive screen, in front of which all the bikes are installed. It allows you not to think about fatigue, because, being in front of it, you are immersed in a parallel reality: your road will pass through the islands, under water, in San Francisco, on the race track - there is no mention of everything. By the way, you don't have to carry sneakers with you - special cycling boots will already be waiting for you in the locker room. A small tip: take a couple of sizes larger, as they are small.
The second workout - Body Pump - best fits the definition of “all ingenious is simple”. The essence of the lesson is in repetition and alternation of different types of loads, with own weight and with the use of additional equipment. It's hard to find a better way to get in shape quickly.

Yes, Spartans are indeed trained here, so before you go to functional training, you should know - this is not for beginners. I, as a person who didn’t go in for any kind of sports, was ready for anything, but in the process of training I caught myself several times thinking that right now I was ready to give up everything, get up and leave.
Why is it so difficult? The fact is that during the lesson, the coach brings up all the Olympic qualities in you at once - strength, endurance, flexibility, coordination and speed. The exercises are selected in such a way as to perfectly combine with each other and give an even load on all muscle groups. During the lesson, work is carried out both with its own weight and with additional equipment, including the TRX simulator.
One of the biggest advantages of functional training is a quick, and most importantly, obvious result, which you can evaluate after a few weeks of regular training. If you attend workouts at least twice a week, over time you will be amazed at what your body and spirit are capable of.
